|NAME:||Dr. Emma Katherine Mallory|
|RANK:||Starfleet -- Commander|
|HAIR COLOR:||Dark Brown|
Emma enjoys researching artifacts discovered in the course of archaeological expeditions and does consulting work in this area for various organizations on a limited basis. She enjoys reading adventure thrillers and loves to camp and hike.
Father: Alexander Jacob Mallory-assumed deceased.
Mother: Sarah Christine Mallory-assumed deceased.
Brother: Travis James Mallory, age 34 and Emma's twin. Currently resides in the Sonoran Desert within Earth's Southwest Territories with his wife Carolyn.
It is believed that subject's parents, Alexander and Sarah Mallory were killed while excavating for the Lost Dutchman mine in the Superstition Mountains of Earth's Southwest Territories when subject and her brother were approximately 14 years of age.
It was not until almost two years after the disappearance of the senior Mallory's and after the assumption that the entire family must have perished, that their children were discovered living alone in a series of caves that had functioned as the family's base of operations, subsisting on what they were able to glean from the surrounding desert.
Because of Alexander Mallory's obsession with secrecy, the location of the family camp was unknown to any outsiders. When found, the children were unresponsive to most of the questioning and continued to reiterate that they didn't know at what site their parents were working and that they were still waiting for their return.
The children, now 16 years of age, were taken to the nearest city, Santa Fe, where because there were no existing relatives to act as guardians, they were made wards of the local government. Dr. Noel Chandler, the psychiatrist assigned to their case believed that their parent's almost paranoid secretiveness as well as their young ages and almost obsessive reliance on each other contributed to what amounted to a type of shared fugue state.
Subsequent intensive counseling and being introduced to formal schooling produced a marked lessening in the terrible anxiety that the twins showed when kept apart although their closeness continues to this day in spite of the vast distances caused by the demands of Emma's career.
Travis Mallory disappeared at the same time that his sister left Santa Fe to attend Santa Clara University. Emma never filed a missing person report and he subsequently resurfaces two years later. His return is documented by the land grant he applied for and received, in his and his sister's names for a parcel of land located in the Superstition Mountains. Travis Mallory and his wife, Carolyn manage and guide trips into the Sonoran Desert for tourists and survivalists and list only a business address.
Emma is divorced from Nor, the Chief Medical Officer she served with aboard the Stargazer. Nor spends his time doing research on the planet, Vulcan. They were together for 4 years and had no children.
Emma Katherine Mallory graduated from the University of Santa Clara in the Southwestern Territories of Earth having majored in premed and minored in geology. She then attended the DuFresne Medical College based at the McCay Colony, located in the Southern Hemisphere on Mars. DuFresne was chosen by Emma because its virology department has made some of the greatest contributions in the cataloguing and treatment of the worst biologic scourges to plague the Alpha Quadrant. At this point in time, Emma was intent in carving out a career as a virologist, with an emphasis on research.
While at DuFresne, she had the opportunity to join an archeological expedition into the canyons known as the Noctis Labyrinthus as the onsite physician. The Noctis Labyrinthus yielded very few answers to the many questions they engendered, but Emma became fascinated with the process itself. She returned to Earth and enrolled in Brown University's forensic program, graduating within two years as a forensic pathologist, specializing in xenobiology with a minor in archaeology.
Shortly after graduation, Emma was hired as a civilian mission specialist by the UFP's Antiquities Preservation Division. She spent 4 years as a medical advisor and field archaeologist.
Wishing to make better use of her medical degree, she signed on as the physician for a new colony just starting out on Delios II. The colony thrived but was unable to survive the opening volleys of the Dominion War and the colony suffered heavy casualties before being evacuated by the U.S.S Exeter to Starbase 89. Because of the movement of Dominion troops, it was almost 13 months before she was able to return to Earth.
During those 13 months, Emma worked with the station's severely understaffed medical department. It soon become clear that the conflict would be a long and costly one and it seemed by no means certain that the Federation would emerge the victor. Emma developed an appreciation and admiration for the principles and dedication with which the Starfleet officers she worked so closely with carried out their objectives.
The Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Robert Santiago as well as the Commanding officer of Alpha 89, Captain Genevieve Devereaux, acted as references for Emma who applied to Starfleet while still on Alpha 89. Upon arriving back on Earth, Emma entered into officer's training at the Academy and after two years of intensive study, she graduated in time to celebrate the ending of the war. Her first official posting was as a medical assistant to the deep space exploration vessel, U.SS. Stargazer, registry number NCC-4711-C.
While serving aboard the Stargazer, Emma was offered the opportunity to consult for Starfleet as an archaeologist/field doctor and after much soul searching resigned her commission on the Stargazer. She spent 5 years working for Starfleet as a mission specialist before accepting a commission on the U.S.S. Stargazer NCC-2398-E, where she is currently serving as Chief Medical Officer.
